In the far future the descendants of humanity are moving back towards civilisation. Luke, a young warrior and farmer from the western country of the island he knows as his world, learns how to tame and ride horses which live on the far fringes of the nearby forest. He hopes to export this skill to the rest of the island but in doing so he discovers a secret third nation and has to fight to the death against an unexpected rival.
